The Jean Batten Upturned Cloche with felt red koru is inspired by Jean Batten, the famous New Zealand aviator who broke the England to Australia solo flying record in 1934. She was also described as the Greta Garbo of the skies, due to her taking a white silk dress on her flights and always applying lipstick before disembarking the plane (www.wikipaedia.com).

Made of 100% black wool felt, our hat embodies Jean Batten's determination and strength of character, with its clean bold lines and almost aviator style. The Jean upturned cloche has a turned-up brim with red koru in felt representing the best of New Zealand. The brim is secured by a shiny black button to the side. A ribbon of red completes this eye-catching hat.

The Jean Batten Upturned Cloche has an internal band for comfort, and is ideal for the contemporary woman.
